Yes, it is true, the Atwater brand has expanded into craft spirits and we got the chance to taste them at their 1st Anniversary Party back in June! The Detroit grown company has introduced whiskey, rum, vodka and gin to their taproom and beirgarten in Grosse Pointe Park. This handcrafted booze is the icing on the cake for a place that already has established a long list of fabulous craft beers!
Happy 1st Anniversary & Spirit Launch!
When we caught wind that Atwater in the Park was set to open last summer, we were anxious to give it a shot! We spent hours in the hot summer sun under the oversized umbrella cooling down over a large quantity of beer samplings to find that the biergarten was a fine place to waste some time. (Read the post here) Anytime it is nice out, it was without a second thought that we would plant ourselves outdoors, but we knew eventually we would have to give the inside a shot. We did & we weren’t disappointed. We would recommend grabbing a spot in the renovated church that is now Atwater in the Park anytime, any day!
Atwater in the Park is on the corner of Lakepointe Street and Kercheval in Grosse Pointe Park. 1175 Lakepointe Street Grosse Pointe Park, MI. Street parking isn’t too difficult here.

Last week, Courtney and I were invited to attend a performance by the Birmingham-Bloomfield Symphony Orchestra (BBSO). We were very excited about this invitation because we have never shared a musical experience with our Chick in the Mitt readers! We are very pleased to tell you that our evening at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial attending the Burst of Colors performance was a beautiful night of music that was incredibly relaxing and enjoyable. Here are alllllll the details…..

Every Michigander knows that when the weather is nice you HAVE to take advantage of it – so outdoor dinning is a must during warm months. And no matter what the weather – we love a great beer, especially when they are brewed in our great state of Michigan. Here is a list of the best places to experience both…. (more…)
In 2014 Chick in the Mitt was able to visit TONS of amazing places throughout Michigan. So to celebrate the start of 2015, we wanted to share ”a few of our favorite things” and we are beginning with the top three coffee and breakfast spots of 2014!
Situated on “the hill” in Grosse Pointe Farms, you will find an adorable spot where you can grab a coffee, delicious breakfast, lunch, pastry or dessert and pop in for a specialty cocktail at happy hour! Morning Glory Coffee & Pastries can quickly become your go-to coffee shop and place to grab a glass of wine after work. I love when you can find a place that meets all your eating & drinking needs!
I didn’t expect anything less than satisfaction when visiting the highly anticipated Atwater in the Park. Atwater teaming up with Epicurean Group is brilliant. You have a restaurant group who has proven excellence through many of their restaurants (Coach Insignia in the Detroit Renaissance Center, Plaza Deli in Southfield and Northern Lakes Seafood in Troy to name a few) and a brewing company that has perfected the art of beer making. To merge the two together, renovate a church, go with a community Bier Garten theme and serve German fare is a masterpiece in the making.
Bottomline: We loved our experience at Atwater in the Park and cannot wait to spend hours there sipping delicious beer, enjoying tasty food and being surrounded by good company. (more…)
