The saying, “a family who eats together, stays together” or in this case works together, holds true when it comes to the Palushaj family. With a love for good food and everyone doing their part, they have built Howell’s newest lunch and dinner spot, Firewood Grill. To say that owner and chef Tom Palushaj has experience is an understatement. After immigrating from Albania with his family as a boy, he began washing dishes in Detroit’s Greektown neighborhood. There, he learned to perfect the recipes he now uses at his own restaurants. Lucky for Howell residents, they can now get a little taste of Greektown in their community!
Many local celebrities agree, as their website mentions, the family of restaurants spread around Metro-Detroit serving up the finest Greek salads, breadsticks, pizza and BBQ ribs are simply the best around. From Howell, Highland, White Lake and Milford to Lapeer, Plymouth, Fenton and Brighton you can find these 60 year old family staples at almost all of their restaurants or carry outs. This particular time, I found myself at Tomato Brothers for lunch after burning off some serious calories shopping at Tanger Outlets. Proven fact: there is no better way to reenergize yourself (or put yourself into a food coma) than Tomato Brother’s pizza, Greek salad and bread sticks.
