JD’s MOTOWN MUSTARD

Whether you are looking to find the perfect condiment to top off your sandwich or a dip to cover your pretzel in, we think we have found what could be called “Detroit’s Best Mustard”. JD’s Motown Mustard is thick, sweet, spicy and everything in between. I found myself trying it with everything that I could find. The best part is, this five ingredient, handmade mustard is a family recipe that has been around for generations and made right here in Metro-Detroit.

Put some JD's on it.

APRIL MITT ROUNDUP VIDEO

Our monthly Mitt Roundup is here! In this video, we talk about what we are obsessed with this month at Bacco, Brightly Twisted, Craft Breww City and Iridescence.

Don’t forget, every month we will be rounding up our favorite Michigan based businesses and letting you know what’s going on around our state. Thanks for joining us on our journey as we eat, drink, shop and volunteer our way through the Mitt.

brightly twisted: designed & hand dyed in Michigan

What began as a hobby for former preschool teacher, Greg Stemas, has become a nationally known business after he teamed up with former principal, Tammy Borque-Stemas. Bring together a talent for tie-dying and an eye for fashion and you get what brightly twisted calls “uncommonly pretty”. Stemas spent summers hand dying in his basement and selling his eye catching tie-dye at craft fairs.  Through hardwork, dedication and a true love for what they do, Greg, Tammy & their highly talented team have created a booming business that brings modern and upscale products in a humble and organic manner.

Szechuan Empire is a Hidden Gem!

I discovered Szechuan Empire through my husband – who is absolutely obsessed with this place. One day, while we were dating, he asked me if I wanted to go to the BEST Chinese restaurant in the world. Naturally, I said yes and my expectations were high.

When we pulled up to the restaurant, I thought that those expectations needed to be lowered. The building was kinda tiny, the parking lot congested and the entire sign was blocked by an enormous tree – making it hard to find the place.

But all of my doubts diminished once our food arrived…everything we ordered was unbelievable! To start we had a bowl of hot and sour soup – which arrived in what looked like a serving bowl and was seasoned to perfection.
