It’s no secret that Clarkston is home to one of the BEST BBQ joints in the state. Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, the Washington Post, Crain’s Detroit and Hour Magazine all agree – The Woodshop rocks our taste buds.
Their menu is packed with housemade comfort foods that are bursting with flavor. I have visited this establishment more times then I would like to admit and I’ve tried everything from the smoked meats, to the cherry pork salad and even their butterscotch pudding.
One of my personal favorites is the sweet potato burrito. It took me a while to try because it’s a very unique item – but I promise it’s worth the risk. This little taste of heaven consists of THE BEST sweet potatoes, black beans & spinach in a flour tortilla topped with a cheese blend, sour cream & salsa.
Another one of my favs is the smoked chicken – which is rubbed with a delicious blend of spices and is sooo juicy! Pair it with their potato salad and zucchini and you’ve got one heck of a meal.
18 S Main St., Clarkston, MI 48346. It’s located in Clarkston’s walkable downtown area and there is a large parking lot about a half block away on the corner of Washington and South Main St.
The average cost of an entre is about $15 and I would say the menu is fairly priced based on the quality of their meats and the large portion size.
After the sweet potato burrito – the vibe is my favorite part of this place. You can tell the staff genuinely enjoys working at the Woodshop – everyone I have encountered has been friendly and down to earth. The decor is eccentric, unique and welcoming all at once. I have spent hours in their oversized booth with friends and family feeling welcome, comfortable and truly enjoying my experience and this unique BBQ joint.
